The choir is conducted by Vanya Moneva, a highly devoted and exigent musician for whom folklore is the treasure we Bulgarians should deeply cherish and preserve.

“We are a folk choir but we move in different genres,” Vanya Moneva explains. “We perform folk songs, Orthodox Christian chants, ethno-jazz, contemporary compositions for symphony orchestra and folk choir and music of other ethnic groups as well. We have contacts with foreign composers who use the specific sound of the Bulgarian folk choir.

We have issued 10 CDs and have taken part in 5 projects of foreign composers. Further more, we have made 4 films for Bulgarian National TV. The British Channel 4 and the German ZDE have made special films about 'The Cosmic Voices of Bulgaria' choir, tracing the development of the formation.

The coir consists of 20 ladies, working as a well-united family. Perhaps that is why everything they perform is so beautiful and impressive. And when they come out on stage – each one of them dressed in a costume from a different region of Bulgaria, the entire space glows, flooded in illustrious colors and sounds.”
